We were very impressed of the whole process in buying our new puppy! Matt went out of his way to help us make the best decision for us. Hannah explained everything in detail and answered every question we had. I felt the employees were caring, knowledgeable, and well informed. I would not hesitate to refer friends and family .
Ive been giving them the benifit of the doubt for too long now. I got a baby rat from here less than a week ago for my 3 rats at home. That baby rat is sick and got my 3 rat guys sick. 2 have already died and my last rat is not holding up so well. My rats are dead because of the sick rats they are selling!
I came in yesterday afternoon with my toddler and 10 month old. After looking at the puppies, I asked one of your associates (I described the worker), if we could play with one. I pointed the puppy out, and she said, that one is sold, but you can play with that one, and pointed to the one beside it. I said, okay that's fine (thinking it's a good recommendation). She gets the puppy and we follow her to one of the rooms. My two girls and I are in the room, she puts the puppy on the floor and says, this one likes to chew so here's a toy. All of the sudden the puppy lunges at my baby clamping onto her ear. My baby is crying, I'm trying to pry the puppies jaw open, I get it loose and all of the sudden the puppy goes straight for my toddlers hand, making her bleed as I'm trying to get the puppies mouth open. As I get the puppies mouth open, it turns to me clamping down on my arm, and cutting a hole in my shirt. By this time I have both my kids on the bench, crying and I'm looking for someone to help. No one. We get the puppy occupied in the corner of the room and get out. I find another girl and told her that she can take the puppy back to its cage. No one said sorry, no one checked on us. It was a horrible and tragic experience. We bought our dog from this Petland years ago, and never had an experience like this before. Before your staff recommends a dog, they should think about the family playing with it and make better recommendations.
Wanted to share what I wrote to Petland in Feb 2017 - still with no response or apology. Would NOT recommend Petland to ANYONE.
They have a lot of cute puppies and other animals but honestly the conditions of their tiny kennels were a little alarming. We set up an appointment to see a puppy and when we got there they didn't have us in the system and had to take the puppy we were coming to see from a little girl. The staff was definitely just trying to sell off these dogs and I can't say that they care too much about them. I suppose this is how it goes in these pet stores though. Please rescue or find a responsible breeder instead!
Love this store! We were there a couple weeks ago playing with an awesome boxer puppy that we should have taken home that day. Unfortunately when we came back to get him he already found a home. The staff was super helpful and we even got to meet the owner the second time we were there. The store was very clean for having a ton of pets in there and i left my number so they can call me first when another male boxer arrives. If you love cute puppies, Petland St. Louis is the place to go! Thanks for everything guys! Hopefully soon i will have my little man!
